Fancy a weekend full of flavour, fun and culture in Mallorca? Then you can’t miss the Fresh Fish Weekend, an event that celebrates the season of the llampuga, a typical fish from the island’s waters.
The Peix Fresc Weekend is held in the port of Cala Ratjada, a coastal town in the municipality of Capdepera, located in the northeast of Mallorca. Cala Ratjada is an ideal tourist destination for an autumn holiday, as it offers numerous beaches and natural coves, a marina and fishing port, a varied leisure offer and a historical and cultural heritage that will surprise you.
This event will take place on the weekend of 13-15 October. The programme includes activities for all tastes and ages, such as culinary competitions, tastings, live music, fireworks and much more. We tell you everything you need to know so you don’t miss anything.
Friday 13rd October
On Friday 13th, the Fira opens with Tapas Night, which at 8pm kicks off a weekend full of fun. You will be able to taste a wide variety of tapas with the creativity of the chefs.
At 9 p.m. the 13th Culinary Tapas Competition will be held, where a jury made up of four renowned chefs from the area will evaluate the proposals presented by the participants, who will have to demonstrate their creativity and skill in the kitchen.
At 10 p.m. there will be music with ElsFunKiss and Chevy’s Band. Here, a total of twenty establishments, including restaurants and hotels, will try to win one of the prizes.
Saturday 14th October
On Saturday 14th, the Fira continues with the Verbena Marinera, a popular party with paella, music and dancing. At 8 p.m. a giant fish paella will be served (tickets cost €7 and will be sold on the quayside while stocks last). At 22.30 h DJ Oscar Romero and Valnou will provide entertainment.
Sunday 15 October
On Sunday 15th, the XX Mostra de la Llampuga will be held, where you can try this fish in different ways: The most traditional ones are prepared by the Fishermen’s Guild and the Club de la Tercera Edad (who can be found in stalls 1/2/3 on the site).
The llampuga is an oily fish that is highly prized for its firm, tasty flesh, which can be prepared in a variety of ways.
There will also be a place for sweets, which this year will be provided by Pastería Tolán.
