If you have an inclination for Capdepera’s most typical crafts, you should decide on palmito (the European fan palm tree) or llata, as it is called in Catalan. Capdepera is one of the three places on Mallorca that is home to this straw, which is the basis for a wide variety of products made by braiding its dry leaves .
The well known Mallorcan baskets called senallas, hats, adornments…. Another option is footwear, with a complete leather industry in Mallorca that also brings from Menorca the typical sandals known as aubarcas. There are also textile products from the Balearics that use Ibizan fashion as a reference point.
