July is full of joy, festivities and traditions. As every year, in Cala Ratjada we celebrate the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen” in honour of the patron saint of sailors and protector of the sea, which reflects our deep fishing tradition and our strong bond with the sea.
These weeks are a time of union and joy for all of us, residents and visitors alike. Our streets become the stage for different activities and events to showcase the best of our maritime culture and heritage.
Celebrating the Virgen del Carmen is not only a way to honour our patron saint, but also to reaffirm our identity and community spirit. It is a perfect opportunity for visitors to experience authentic Mallorcan culture in a festive and welcoming environment. In Cala Ratjada, we open our hearts and our doors to share with everyone the magic of our traditions.
Enjoy the local gastronomy with the best seafood, activities for children, exhibitions, workshops or popular games….. during the day our festival programme offers activities for all ages, and in the evenings the streets are filled with music and dancing. We organise open-air concerts and performances by local groups to entertain young and old alike. There is nothing like enjoying a summer night dancing to typical village songs, sharing laughter and joy with friends and family. …. and don’t miss a delicious cold pomada made by our sailors.

On the 16th of July we close the festivities with one of the most emotional events. After the carmen mass, the sea fills with boats and llauts to give way to the maritime procession followed by fireworks that decorate the sky with all the colours.
JUVENTUDES MUSICALES DE CAPDEPERA organises the festival SERENATAS D’ESTIU DE CALA RATJADA, concerts in the gardens of the Bartomeu March Foundation, which has been running for more than 30 years.
The serenades aim to offer an ambitious and varied programme of quality concerts combining different styles of music (soloists, chamber music, symphonic/choral music, early music, baroque music, ethnic music, fusion, jazz, etc.) with artists of national and international renown.
